Title:19-year-old stabbed in Vasant Kunj, accused absconding

A 19-year-old youth was stabbed by a group of men in south-east Delhi's Vasant Kunj on Tuesday evening, the police said on Wednesday. They said the accused are absconding.

警方在星期三说，一名19岁的年轻人在星期二晚上在东南部德里的Vasant Kunj被一伙人刺伤。警方称，被告正在潜逃。

Deputy Commissioner of Police (South-West) Milind Mahadeo Dumbere said the victim has been identified as Rehan. The police said Rehan had stepped out of his house around 5 p.m. to meet friends when a few men on a scooty approached him. The accused picked up a fight with him, following which they stabbed him nearly five times.

"It appears that the men abused him. When he retaliated, they stabbed him and fled the spot,"  said a senior police officer.

The victim shouted for help, after which two of his cousins rushed him to AIIMS Trauma Centre. He is said to be in a critical condition, the police said.

Mr. Dumbere said prima facie, the incident is a result of personal enmity and group rivalry. The matter will become clear once the victim's statement is recorded, the officer said.
