[(Title)] England's World Cup team to be honoured by Theresa May at reception

UK prime minister Theresa May intends to invite England's World Cup team to a reception at 10 Downing Street to recognise their semifinal appearance.

英国首相特特蕾莎·梅邀请英格兰世界杯足球队至唐宁街10号参加招待会，以表彰他们进入半决赛。

"We would certainly like to host a reception for the England football team, who did so well in Russia, and that is something that we are going to talk to the FA about," a spokeswoman for May .

“我们非常愿意为英格兰足球队举办招待会，该队在俄罗斯的表现非常出色，”特蕾莎·梅的发言人说。

England had not won a knockout-round game in a major tournament since 2006 before defeating Colombia in the round of 16 and Sweden in the quarterfinals.

According to the Guardian, an average of 24.3 million people watched ITV's coverage of the defeat against Croatia, which the broadcaster said was the largest audience to ever watch a football game on a single channel.

May was especially pleased with manager Gareth Southgate, whose squad was  of the 32 competing at the World Cup.
