[(Title)] Police: Father kills 7-year-old daughter, self in Manayunk.

MANAYUNK (WTXF) - A horrific discovery inside a home on a quiet block in Philadelphia's Manayunk section Monday morning. A murder-suicide has claimed the life of a seven-year-old girl stuck in the middle of a nasty custody fight.

A grandfather's anguish was matched by the tears of the little girl's stepfather.

The men had to come to his home on the 4500 block of Wilde Street, when the seven-year-old girl was not returned to her mother, after spending the weekend with her dad.

小女孩的外公和继父都为之痛哭。女孩在和她爸爸一起度过周末之后没有回到她母亲家，所以两人不得不来到王尔德街的4500栋来找她。

"Essentially, it was a murder-suicide. The young girl, her father killed her and then killed himself inside the residence,"  said Captain John Ryan, with the Philadelphia Police Department.

Neighbors say they had seen the dad with his daughter over the past few months.

"He was always happy having her. When the store was open up the street, he would bring her in and get her some candy, or this or that, or whatever. And, I said to him, 'Oh, you have your daughter today!'

And he would say, 'Yeah, we're going to do this and that,'"  said neighbor Mary Lou Crompton.

But, Crompton said she was aware the father had been embroiled in a lengthy and contentious custody battle with the little girl's mother.

"He was kind of worked up about that custody, you know? When he was going through with it."

The little girl's grandfather stood outside and watched, silently, as her body was carried from the house. Police say he wanted to stick around until he knew she was properly removed.
