[(Title)]Brazilian Workers’ Party Asks Court to Remove Bolsonaro From Presidential Race

Brazil media outlets reported onThursday that businessmen close toBolsonaro had concluded contracts withhigh-tech companies tospread hundreds ofthousands ofmessages viathe Whatsapp application, which might have affected the results ofthe first roundof the presidential vote.

"This demonstrates the clear practice ofabuse offinancial capabilities inorder tocreate the unbalance offorces atthe election," the complaint read, asquoted bythe UOL news outlet.

The party also asked the court toprohibit Bolsonaro fromholding elected office foreight years.

Bolsonaro, inhis turn, denied any involvement inthe reported violation.

"I cannot control an entrepreneur who does this because ofhis sympathy tome.

I know that this violates the law butI cannot learn aboutit [in advance] and take measures [to prevent it]," Bolsonaro said, asquoted bythe Antagonista news outlet.

The first roundof the presidential election was held inBrazil onOctober 7.

Bolsonaro received 46.03 percent ofthe votes while his rival Fernando Haddad got 29.28 percent ofthe ballots.

According tothe fresh Datafolha poll, Bolsonaro is expected togarner 59 percent ofthe votes atthe October 28 run-off, while Haddad is expected toreceive 41 percent ofthe ballots.
